The United States of America became
this great, independent country when our ancestors started and successfully won
the American Revolution of 1776-1783. Sons of the American Revolution
(SAR) is a society which got its start at the first centennial
anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1876 when a
group of surviving ancestors of the Revolutionary Patriots formed a parade
entry. The National Society of the Sons
of the American Revolution (NSSAR) was founded in 1889, and incorporated by
act of Congress in 1906. Membership consists of male descendants of
those Patriots who, during the American Revolution, rendered unwavering loyal
service to the cause of winning our freedom from England.
The Wisconsin Society, Sons of the American Revolution (WISSAR) is an organization with several active chapters. Wisconsin's Dave Dean has been instrumental in the development of this new demonstration of records management. Most webpages must be precoded to contain all of the data wanted, including Email addresses. This is very limiting and has lead to spamming due to the fact that the data is always readily available on these pages. Using our new technique, the data exists on the webpage only briefly to satisfy a current request. The data resides on the server and is therefore unavailable to spammers. You need not purchase or install any special software to be able to access this system. All that is needed is your Internet access and proper authorization. Any authorized person (Active Member of NSSAR) may access this system from anywhere, at any time. We have attempted to provide the screen navigation in an easy to understand format. The system reformats all entries to conform to the defined file structure. You already know how to use this. No instruction is necessary. As you will see from this DEMO, records can be easily viewed, added or changed using the Internet. You may try this. Upper-Lower Case doesn't matter. We only ask that you use discretion when doing this, to keep the data reasonably like your Society would for itself. You may enter your Committee assignments. For viewing the Committee Assignment, please choose Society List WI(sconsin), or any Society with entries. Then select David A Dean, or any Member with entries... Also you may review the entered Assignments by clicking on "Request Committee Assignment Summaries" for WI(sconsin), or any Society with entries, from the 2nd page of this Demo. You may use any of the data. The Phone Numbers and Email Addresses (if still valid) can help you to communicate with other Members. If you notice any are incorrect, you may update them. To Add or Update an existing record, you may use upper, lower or mixed case when entering the data. Coding is kept to the bare minimum. The reason for this is to allow anyone, who is willing and authorized, to help with data entry. Please keep in mind that this is a DEMO. The DEMO files are active and the Internet Server is in actual production. Many other aspects of this processing, although not part of this demonstration, can be considered. Examples might be Current Officers, New Membership Application, Dues Processing, Committee Membership and a variety of reporting, etc. We would be very interested in your comments about the speed and ease of use of this type of processing. Please Email Dave Dean - Wisconsin Society Sons of the American Revolution with questions or comments. |
